 Before we started:

Creating a business like Metamorphic Moons, was not always my (Elizabeth’s) goal. Throughout my adolecense and teen years, I was a competitive martial artist (Tae Kwon Do), and dancer. My goal after high school was to become an official teacher for Tae Kwon Do and dance, since I had led classes, and had a vast understanding of all things movement. I started leading classes in both dance and tae kwon do, when I was about 15. Before graduating high school, I enrolled into college to become a certified dance teacher. I started my first class in the fall, and was excited to start this new journey.
Since I had a background in dance, I was able to skip all introductory courses, and be a part of level 2/3 classes. In the class, we were learning choreography that another student had created, over the summer. I had done a routine dance turn, as part of the choreography, and my foot failed to rotate on the floor, causing me to dislocate my left knee. I fell to the floor, knowing what had happened, and what that meant for me and my career plans. I spent months with a leg brace, from my thigh to ankle, unable to hold any weight, or bend my knee. I spent the next year, in physical therapy, using heat, ice, and ultimately relearning how to walk, until my knee surgery.
The reality, of the situation, really set in, after I had recovered from my knee surgery. I knew that I wasnt going to be able to dance at the copacity that I once did, but always tried remainng optimistic. I eventually started finding other jobs, and creating new hobbies for myself, but still never felt the passion, that I once did.

How we started? :

When the pandemic forced the world to go into lockdown in March 2020, I lost my job in a medical office. I was without income, or the ability to receive any unemployment help until October of 2020. By this point into the pandemic, I was desperate, to make a change within my life. Once I was able to start receiving unemployment funds, I finally had a bit of money to fall back on, but knew it would not be reliable. I decieded to take the leap, research suppliers, buy my first package of inventory and build connections.

The Journey:

The first package of inventory fit into a small space in my closet, and I had officially posted my first items for sale November 18th of 2020. It was something that I had genuinely felt knowlegable about, and had an apptitude for, since I was a child. It was a side hustle for me, thinking that things would blow over in another 6 months, and I could return back to my former job. The first sales I had were photos, of products posted on our feed to Instagram. I continued that for a few months, before I bit the bullet, and deceided to try and have live sales. After the turn out of our first live, I knew this is what I wanted to do. Curating a live sale table every week, with new, unique, and beautiful crystals, minerals, and jewelry. All processes from showcasing, photographing, and shipping were all done from my bedroom.

As the live sales, engagement, and reach grew, so did the need for larger quantities of products. This continued, until I outgrew the closet space, and shifted some of the inventory into my garage. By this time in my journey, I had been able to attend a gem show, to begin hand selecting every single item that came into the shop, furthuring my connections, quality, and quantity of items. I was also able to bring more diverse items, including rare items, pinned insects, and more metaphysical products.

The business, was always a full time operation , but by this point, it was more evident, that it was something that could be possible for the long term. I had continued to grow out of my space, and converted a Mongolian Yurt, in my backyard, into a scaled shop, with all the works, including shelving units, tables, lights, and spaces for packaging.

I had further built my connections, and was now speaking with manufacturers and suppliers all over the USA, and on a global scale, including Mexico, Brazil, Columbia, Peru, Madagascar, Australia, and more.

In the summer of 2023, I started to feel disconnected from the plans, of what I wanted for the business. My goals, creative ideas, and direction changed from what it was when I first started in 2020. In November of 2023 I bit the bullet, changed the name, had a complete rebrand, new colors, inventory, and content. Even with the changes, something was misisng. I had been doing everything solo, for 3 years, and I needed another perspective, but didnt know who.

Fast forward to January of 2024, I rekindled with a friend of mine Abdullah. We hit it off again, so quickly, everything had magically fallen into place. The more we talked, the connection, and pull towards each other grew. We decided that we would give a relationship, a shot, and with little surprise, we both discovered how much more we had in common, in terms of life experience, goals, and virtues. It was fate

. Abdullah is a graphic designer, entrepreneur, tech wizard, and a man with a plan. I had asked his opinion, and explained my concerns about the business. We sat down and started talking. He came up with a plan, that aliigned with everything we both could have dreamed of. We were not, only planning to get married, but now owning a business together. We had shifted the focus, and took a few steps backwards, in order to make the website and interfaces more user friendly, and running as smoothly as possible.

We created a new logo, set up new social media accounts, ordered new business cards, supplies, and he rebuilt and coded the entire website, start to finish. It was officially time to elevate Metamorphic Moons, into a professional crystal, mineral, jewelry, and metaphysical shop. It would have never been possible without the help of my future hubby Abdullah.
